Zion Chapel is located in Ryde on the Isle of Wight and has been established since 1853. Zion Chapel in William Street was originally built as a Free Wesleyan 'preaching house' by William Shakleton the elder, on what was originally land designated 'Swanmore Close'. The name ZION (from 'Jerusalem') much referred to in the Old Testament and particularly in the Psalms, has no doctrinally 'Jewish' significance as might be supposed (e.g. 'Zionists').

During the 170 years of its existence so far the Chapel has remained a strong place of Christian activity and ministry, a beacon for the local community and beyond. Zion Chapel is an evangelical/spirit filled church standing on the true and full Word of God and open to what the Holy Spirit tells us and wants us to do. In our Sunday service we combine old and new, more traditional hymns with the latest Christian songs to create a blend of traditional praise and joyful worship. The preaching is carried out by some of our elders as well as a host of visiting island ministers.

Our weekly activities include our Thursday afternoon interactive Bible Study and our Tuesday afternoon Prayer walk in the community followed by our Prayer meeting

In addition we have a series of special meetings including our monthly outreach on a Saturday morning on Ryde High St and our fortnightly Open church for counselling, prayer and a chat over a drink on alternative Saturday mornings.
